“I STARTED MY BUSINESS WITH 3000 NAIRA”- MARIAM LAWAL,Founder & CEO, MTC.

Some people say business is for the rich but I have always believed that it is possible to start your business with a very little amount of money, I contacted Mariam founder of Mariam Trish Collection and she had this to share:

“I started MTC in 2014 during my NYSC when I was posted to Lagos, prior to that I had always helped my sister sell goods in the hostel. I stepped out to send something to Ilorin at Iyana IPAja on a faithful day, and then I came across a man selling beautiful veils, l have always been a lover of veils, my veils were always unique during my university days.

I bought 3 different veils and when got home I consulted my sister as to how much she thinks I could sell them, I thought the veils were beautiful and I was sure people would love them as they were not expensive and she told me it had to do with packaging and so on.

I thought about it and the following week, I got veils for 3000 Naira to sell. I packaged them nicely and took them to work on Monday to introduce to my colleagues, they loved the fact that the veils were beautiful and not expensive. There and then, I made up my mind. I got different types of veils and after a while launched my IG page @Mariam_trish, where I post Available items and feedbacks.

Initially, I was selling veils of a particular length but some of my customers asked for an increase in length, So I had to start making the veils myself with the help of my sister  @alluresclothings and I also started ordering online because at some point my customers started asking for different modest items.

Today, Alhamdulillah, in MTC we have veils of different sizes and types, Maxi skirts, jilbabs, kimono, body tops and so on and people buy from all over the world.

Branding hasn’t been easy, but Alhamdulillah we are progressing, I mean all business has it’s own challenges but we all have to be strong.

I derive so much joy in seeing people looking good and Modest Hence the reason I am into this Business, the money is important but it’s isn’t all about it, the passion I have for it keeps me going. It is important that we do things that we really love because it will help you overcome business challenges.

I believe so much in MTC and it is the reason we keep getting better daily.

You don’t need a huge amount of money or a big shop to start up, do not overlook your passion, start today, I believe with God and hard work you will get there.”

And that’s it’s guy, Hope you are inspired.
