I am so pumped for this reviews fam, For the first time in Lagos, I attended a well organized Islamic event! Emphasis on the word “Organized” and If you have been attending Islamic events In the last 6 months as I have, You know exactly what I mean…So I attended the Friends In Faith event on the 30th of December 2019 and rest assured I was blown away, The timing, The hall, The ambiance, The Food was just amazing Maa shaa Allah.
When I saw that the event was from morning to evening, I thought “Haa, not again, why do Islamic events always last this long, come on, people have something called attention span” but trust me 7 hours went by so fast, Subhanallah…
The event was timed to start at 11 am, trust me to get there 11am on the dot as African time isn’t my thing at all, In my mind, “God please this people should shock me and start early, Well they didn’t start at 11 on the dot but they had plans which I thought was amazing…
So Instead of the typical, register, go to the hall and wait a while for others to get done with their registration so the hall can be at least half full, It was, Register, Have some cocktails and chops and take some really nice instant pictures…. Wait what?! yes! That happened…
Oh yea, How can I forget that we had to pick table numbers right after registration, Thou shall not have a rowdy hall and Thou shall network by force by fire they said.. So as soon we were done with the cocktails and pictures, It was then time for everyone to find their way to the hall….
Don’t forget we all had table numbers, so settling in was so calm and peaceful…What do you say when you enter a hall, that is well decorated and right on your table is everything you need for the event (a program of the day, Pen, notepad, btw, everything was well branded) and right on your chair is a goody bag that contains an energy drink (in case you are beginning to feel tired) and a soft drink…You can tell already that I was mesmerized! c’mon! that much attention to details! you don’t say! And a big shout out to @protean_Lifestlyle, Trust me they did an amazing Job!
The event fully kicked with Bro. Koye on the mic, I like to call him Inspector K, and if You know Inspector K, You can already tell it was all fun in the room, Then we had an Opening prayer by Faridah whom I thought was bold and cute by the way, then followed was the Qur’an recitation and then an Opening Intro by Mrs Pinheiro.
By this time already I was pumped, like bring it on already, It was then time for Hajiya Maryam Lemu to speak and In her talk, she highlighted the importance of using what Allah has blessed you with to solve different problems around you and by the time she was done, It was time for Dhur…. In about 20 minutes we were done and was back to the hall
So one of my highlights of the event for me was the Islamic teasers by Koye, The timings were perfect and the fact that you win a teacup for every question answered correctly made it even more beautiful, You get to learn in a fun way and Hello I won two teacups for me and my husband… Whoop whoop..
Then Dr Ghaneeyah came on to talk about Self Love, she was just dropping gems gbas gbos, one of which was “Love your Rabb, then Love yourself. If you don’t love Allah first, Then you won’t be able to love yourself right…Oh that I still hold on to!
That was followed by a poetic Mental health Drama by Sis Amina’s Team… Oh that was new for me and I loved every bit of it..
Then Asr and then another major highlight of the day for me….(I told you, These people were ready)
What they did again that I thought was really strategic was having Dr Abdul Fattah Adeyemi speak last. it was already around 4pm and people like me were beginning to think of food when Ustaz Dr Abdul Fattah grabbed the mic to talk about Love, rest assured I forgot about the hunger in me, He was very very very very fun and engaging. It was such an Interactive session which I absolutely loved and one thing I took away from his talk was: Always remember that the practicality of life will always affect the love in your heart…
I really didn’t want him to end his lecture but we had to eat, now Let’s talk about how these amazing organizers provided us with orisirisi to serve ourselves. From pepper soup, To Ofada to fruits to Jollof Just name it…
See thinking back now ehn, I don’t think It was 10k that made my day so beautiful, I think the organizers just have a good heart and good taste, one thing is for sure, We need more Organizers like them, They truly did a fantastic Job and I ask Allah to the bless them and the work of their hands…
I honestly had a very relaxing and educating day. Question is: Will I pay 10k to attend their event again… It’s an Absolute Yes!
Barakallahu Feekum to the organizers and before you start thinking it’s a paid post, Helloo it’s not, I like to appreciate good things and I totally feel people should learn from them…
How about I see you in my next post in shaa Allah….
Assalamu Alaikum…
