Please tell us a little about you.
My Name is Aisha Shelleng. I am From Taraba state, Nigeria. I am a Biomedical Engineer by profession and I am a mother of 2 boys. I love Good Food, not just any kind of food But Good Flavourful food.
What made you decide to go into entrepreneurship?
Truly, I have Always wanted to own a brand, Create something sustainable of my own especially as I wasn’t very creative as a child and I always wanted to be on top of my game. When I grew older and everyone around me had some kind of talent in Fashion, creative Art, writing and the likes. I wasn’t very happy as I Totally believed I had no talent. So I started the regular business of buying and selling, I could buy Anything and sell it but that wasn’t enough for me, I needed to feel more creative. So I spent a lot of time thinking of what I love to do and what I find difficult to get when shopping. I love love love Cooking and I always find it difficult getting all natural spice blends with no additives and Alas Spice Naturals was Born.
Tell us about Spice Naturals
Spice Naturals is a Nigerian based Blooming company that Improves the health and wellness of our consumers with Flavor. We create and make Natural Healthy Flavorful spice blends and loose teas. We also make custom blends to fit a particular lifestyle of an individual or for those in the food Industry who require to have a signature taste for their cuisine. Our spice blends are freshly Ground and carefully Handcrafted to provide you with utmost flavour and Aroma.
How are you able to juggle being a wife, a mom and your business altogether?
Honestly, I don’t know how I do it. I think its more of Allah’s Grace than any other thing. Somedays it’s tough but Alhamdulillah I wouldn’t have had it any other way.
What are the major challenges you face in your business?
My major Challenge is managing Finances. Alhamdulillah, My business is doing well but somethings I just don’t know where the money went. You, know sometimes I don’t see the goods and I don’t see the money either (laughs). I am working hard, reading books and learning how to manage my finances more.
Have you had people say Negative things to you as regards your business?
Honestly, I havent heard any yet. Alhamdullilah.
What does Spice Naturals offer?
What spice naturals offers basically is Health and Flavor using spices and Herbs
What is the high point of being an entrepreneur?
For me, It’s the Ability to work when and how you want to. That’s the High point for me.
Where do you see Spice Naturals in the next 5 years?
Oh, I can’t Wait. I see spice naturals In most west African Countries. I am trying to be Realistic with my dreams. This entrepreneurship journey is real hard work with a lot of commitment and persistence. But I am Hopeful In shaa Allah I will get there.
